Kawai NS10. The perfect student upright piano

Introduction. Kawai are piano builders who command great respect among pianists. They are not as famous as their fellow Japanese piano builders, Yamaha, but they do have a very significant and loyal following. Kawai is still a family owned business making sure that their build quality remains very high and matching that of their rivals.

The Piano. The piano here is the NS10 is a mid-level, very decent instrument which would suit most pianists. It has a satisfying, easy to use and responsive action which produces a good clear, medium tone. We find it enjoyable to play and is an ideal piano for pianists who are just beginning their piano playing journey right through to those who are more advanced. The quality of this instrument is good with a warm resonant tone and smooth responsive action.

Kawai are very respected and this is because they have a straightforward approach to design. Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder, but we think the NS10 is a lovely looking piano and it is finished in the ever popular high gloss black. It also benefits from having 88 keys and 3 pedals with a protecttive plate around those pedals.

This piano stands at 123cm tall, 152cm long and 59cm deep and was built in 1985. It is in excellent condition with a smooth action and an even medium/warm tone throughout the range.
